This Painting by Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema has been in my mind lately. I am currently reading the Odessy, and with that, now look at the painting in a new light. I'm skeptical to think that if Homer existed, he wrote both the Iliad and the Odessy. The writing styles in them are too different, but the way people must have hung onto the words of those "inspired by the Muse", and the fluidity of the way these poems were read, gives animation to a still picture.
